What you do not have is a clear answer to one question: do Indian physiotherapists actually get invited, and what would it take for you? Your degree, your papers
Your BPT or MPT has to be assessed before IRCC will count it
An Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is a report that tells IRCC what your Indian degree is worth in Canada. For PR, your BPT or MPT goes to WES or another body IRCC has approved. The report stays valid for five years and costs about CAD 230 plus courier. Send the higher degree as well as the bachelor’s, because the education points are different. This ECA is for immigration only. The physiotherapy regulator does its own separate check, explained below. Many physios get one report and think it covers both. It does not, and that mistake can cost a year.
Which Indian colleges assess cleanly
A BPT or MPT from a college recognised by the Indian Association of Physiotherapists or the state council usually assesses without trouble. If the college or the university is little known, WES may ask for extra checks, which adds weeks. We check the institution before you pay the assessment fee, not after.
Hospital and clinic letters that actually prove 1,560 hours
The category rule is twelve months of full-time, or equal part-time, work in one occupation. A letter that says “worked as physiotherapist from 2021 to 2024” proves the title, not the hours or the duties. It should state weekly hours, patient load, the treatments you gave and your dates, on letterhead, signed by someone who can be contacted. Hospitals in Punjab and Delhi will issue this if asked the right way. We give you the wording.
Own-clinic physiotherapists
If you run your own clinic, nobody employs you, so there is no HR office to write a letter. What replaces it: clinic registration, income-tax returns showing physiotherapy income, appointment registers, and letters from doctors who refer patients to you. Self-employed work is accepted when the papers fit together. Putting that file together properly is much of the work we do.
Sports-team and corporate wellness roles
A physio attached to a cricket academy, a team or a company wellness programme may have duties that drift toward fitness training or admin. If the letter reads that way, the experience may map to a different NOC, outside the healthcare category. The duties on paper decide the code. These letters need careful drafting before the profile goes in.
Where physiotherapists lose a year
Stopping at eleven months
Since 18 February 2026 the category needs 1,560 hours in one eligible occupation within the last three years. A physio who changed roles, took a break or worked part-time can fall just short without knowing it. The profile then sits in the pool, competing only in rounds it cannot reach. We count the hours from the letters before the profile is built.
Treating the immigration ECA as the licensing check
WES writes to IRCC’s standard. CAPR checks to the regulator’s standard. They are different reports with different fees and timelines, and the CAPR side is changing in October 2026. Thinking one covers the other is the most common reason a physio lands in Canada and then loses a year before treating a patient.
Ignoring the spouse’s score
A husband or wife who sits the language test and gets a degree assessed adds points. Families often file with the spouse left blank because it looked like extra cost. Against a cut-off of 475 in June 2026, those points can be the margin.
Borrowing the proof of funds
FSW applicants must show settlement funds: CAD 15,263 for one person, CAD 19,001 for two, CAD 23,360 for three and CAD 28,362 for four on IRCC’s 7 July 2025 table. Points you can still win
Push English to CLB 9 before anything else
Your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is the number IRCC ranks you by. CLB means Canadian Language Benchmark. CLB 9 on IELTS General, CELPIP-General or PTE Core is the level where the big skill-transfer points open up. For most Indian physios it is the single largest jump available. The test costs about ₹16,000–18,000 in India. Sitting it once without preparation and settling for CLB 7 or 8 is where many scores get stuck below the June 2026 healthcare line of 475.
Count the MPT, and count your spouse
A master’s assessed with the bachelor’s lifts your education points. If you are married, your spouse’s language result and their assessed degree add to your score too. A strong spouse profile sometimes decides who should be the main applicant. Families in Punjab often assume the physio must lead the file. Sometimes the spouse with the higher score should. That is a calculation, not a guess. We run both versions on the call.
A provincial nomination changes the maths completely
A Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination adds 600 CRS points. That is why the 31 August 2026 PNP-only round cleared at 697. Several provinces run healthcare streams that name physiotherapists. Some Express Entry-aligned streams invite by occupation with no job offer. Others need an employer. We tell you which is which, honestly, because a route that depends on a job offer is not one we can arrange.

Provincial nominee admissions rise to 91,500 in 2026 from 55,000 in 2025. More nominations exist, and healthcare is a priority area.

PR and the right to treat patients are two different files
Permanent residence lets you live in Canada. It does not let you call yourself a physiotherapist there. That right comes from the provincial college, after the national body, the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR), has checked your education and you have passed the national exam. We file the PR side. We also tell you what the licensing side looks like, so you can start it early. We do not license anyone. No consultant can.
CAPR credentialling is changing in October 2026
CAPR is replacing its Standard Credentialling Pathway with a new Comparability Evaluation Pathway from October 2026. Graduates of certain named programmes have a pre-approved route that skips part of the review. If you are deciding when to send your papers to CAPR, the timing against that change matters. Talk to us before you pay any fee. Keep your transcripts, syllabus and internship records ready in any case. Every pathway rests on them.
One national exam, then provincial registration
Since January 2026 there is one test, the Canadian Physiotherapy Examination (CPTE). It replaced the older Physiotherapy Competency Exam. After credentialling and the exam, you register with the college of the province where you plan to work. Alberta changed its own registration exam rule in 2026, so the province you pick can change the steps. The sensible order is to open the CAPR file while your Express Entry profile is in the pool, so neither process waits for the other.

You land as a permanent resident. CAPR credentialling, the CPTE and provincial registration carry on until you can treat patients.

No. PR gives you the right to live in Canada. Treating patients needs CAPR credentialling, the Canadian Physiotherapy Examination and registration with a provincial college. Those run on their own timetable, so we advise opening the CAPR file while your profile is in the pool.

No. Arranging jobs, LMIAs or work permits needs an MEA Recruiting Agent licence we do not hold, and we will not pretend otherwise. If you already have an offer, we can tell you which provincial streams it opens.
Preparation takes two to four months. Then the profile waits for a healthcare round on IRCC’s schedule. After an invitation you have 60 days to file, and IRCC’s service standard is six months, often longer. We do not quote a landing date, because IRCC controls the middle of that timeline.
Then the honest work is finding points: CLB 9, the master’s, the spouse, or a provincial nomination worth 600. If none of those close the gap, we tell you so rather than take a fee for a profile that will just sit in the pool.
