Australia Business Visitor Visa — overview
The Australia Business Visitor visa is the Business Visitor stream of the Visitor visa (subclass 600). It is for short, genuine business activity — general business enquiries, negotiating or reviewing contracts, official government visits, and attending conferences, trade fairs or seminars. The cap is a stay of up to 3 months.
It is a visitor-class visa, not a work visa: you cannot be paid by an Australian source, work for an Australian business, or sell goods or services to the public. Applications are lodged online through ImmiAccount and the visa is digitally linked to your passport.

The Business Visitor stream of the Visitor visa (subclass 600)
Australia does not issue a separate "business visa" for short trips. Business travellers apply for the Visitor visa (subclass 600) in its Business Visitor stream. Under it you may attend meetings, conferences and negotiations, make business enquiries and undertake similar visits; you may not supply services, sell goods to the public or take up work. Our Knowledge Base records the Home Affairs position plainly: "Meetings and negotiations differ from supplying services or selling to the public. Business Visitor stay is up to three months."
What the file must show
- A company invitation, or conference and meeting evidence, that explains the purpose of every business day in Australia.
- An employer assignment letter from your Indian employer confirming your role, the reason for the trip and who pays.
- Your professional background, so the officer can see the trip fits your position.
- Payment arrangements: who funds the travel, accommodation and daily costs, backed by company or personal financial evidence.
- Form 1415 (business visitor) where the post requests it, and English translations for any document not in English.
- The general subclass 600 requirements still apply: you must be a genuine visitor, meet health and character requirements and hold enough funds for the stay.
Sponsored family visits are a different stream
If an Australian relative is sponsoring your visit, that is the Sponsored Family stream with Form 1149, not the business stream. As the Knowledge Base warns, "do not label a simple friend's invitation an approved sponsorship"; any bond or undertaking follows the official request, not the invitation.
Applying from India
Lodge online through ImmiAccount while outside Australia; the visa must also be decided while you are outside Australia. Home Affairs may decide the application without asking for more documents, so file the complete packet first time. Biometrics are collected in India when requested.

No. You may attend meetings, conferences and negotiations, but you cannot work for an Australian business, be paid by an Australian source, or sell goods or services to the public.
The Business Visitor stream allows a stay of up to 3 months. For longer business activity, a temporary work visa is the correct route.
India is not an APEC economy, so Indian passport holders cannot use an ABTC. The Business Visitor stream is the route for Indian business travellers.
