New Zealand Business Visitor Visa — overview
The New Zealand Business Visitor Visa is for short commercial trips from India — meetings, exploring business opportunities and negotiating contracts. Immigration New Zealand allows a stay of up to 3 months in any 1 year on it, and the government fee starts from NZD $341.
It is a visitor-class visa, so the line that matters is what counts as "business" and what counts as "work". Attending and negotiating are allowed. Working, training, performing or taking part in events are not — those need a work visa, and Immigration New Zealand points applicants to the Specific Purpose Work Visa where the work will run past three months.

Business, or work? The question the whole application turns on
New Zealand draws the line more sharply than most countries, and an application that blurs it gives the officer a reason to refuse.

If your employer's letter says you are going to "train the client's team" or "support the installation", you have described work, not a business visit. We read both letters for words like these before anything is lodged, because an officer reads them the same way.
The three-months-in-a-year ceiling
The stay is capped at 3 months in 1 year. People who travel to the same New Zealand client several times a year run into this without noticing: the visits add up. If the project genuinely needs more than three months on the ground, Immigration New Zealand's own guidance is the Specific Purpose Work Visa — a different application with different evidence, and the right one to be on.
What the money evidence has to show
Immigration New Zealand publishes the figure, so there is no guesswork:
- NZD $1,000 for each month of the stay, or
- NZD $400 a month if the accommodation is already paid for, plus
- the ticket out of New Zealand, or funds to buy it.
When the New Zealand company is covering hotel and flights, say so in the invitation and show the prepaid booking — that moves you to the lower figure, and it explains why your own statement is modest. When your Indian employer is paying, the employer's letter should say that, and the company's bank evidence — not only your personal account — supports it.
Two letters that must tell one story
The official requirement is a letter confirming your employment and the business reasons for the visit. We treat it as a pair with the New Zealand invitation: same dates, same meeting purpose, same named contact, same statement of who pays. Two letters that disagree by even a week invite a question; two that match leave nothing to ask.
Health and character
You must be in good health and of good character. A chest X-ray or medical examination may be requested depending on the health information you provide, and police certificates where they apply. For a short business trip these are often not needed — but if they are asked for, they add time, which is one more reason not to apply in the last week.

Valid passport
Valid at least 3 months beyond departure, with a blank page for the eVisa.
Passport photograph
A recent 35mm x 45mm colour photo on a white background.
Employer cover letter
On company letterhead, naming your role, the purpose of travel, who is funding the trip and your leave dates.
New Zealand invitation letter
From the host company or organisation, with its address, contacts, the meeting attendees and confirmation of who covers hotel and travel costs.
Conference / event registration
Registration confirmation if you are attending a conference or trade fair.
Proof of funds
Bank statements showing at least NZD 1,000 per month (NZD 400 if accommodation is prepaid), plus the return fare.
Business proof (if self-employed)
Company registration, GST registration, partnership deed, last 2 years company tax returns and 6 months business bank statements.
Return travel
A confirmed return or onward flight booking.
