India Visa · For foreigners & NRIs

India e-Visa assistance for foreign nationals.

India's e-Visa is an online travel authorisation (an ETA) you obtain before you fly — no visit to an embassy needed. We check your eligibility, complete the official indianvisaonline.gov.in application and prepare your documents; the visa itself is granted solely by the Government of India.

Who this is for

The e-Visa categories we prepare

This page is for foreign nationals and NRIs — and their overseas family, colleagues or patients — planning a trip to India for tourism, business, medical treatment, a conference or a wellness/AYUSH programme, who want the online e-Visa prepared and filed correctly the first time.

e-Tourist Visa (e-TV)

Sightseeing, holidays, visiting friends or family, and short recreational or yoga visits

Comes in three variants: a 30-day double-entry visa (valid from your first arrival in India) and 1-year and 5-year multiple-entry visas (valid from the date the ETA is granted). Continuous stay per visit is generally capped at 90 days — up to 180 days for nationals of the USA, UK, Canada and Japan. Not for paid work, business, journalism or study.

e-Business Visa (e-BV)

Business meetings, sales, trade, recruitment, and setting up or exploring a venture in India

Valid one year (365 days) from the date the ETA is granted, multiple entry, with each continuous stay not exceeding 180 days; a stay beyond 180 days needs FRRO registration. Intended for genuine business activity — not employment, journalism or money-lending.

e-Medical Visa (e-MV)

Foreign patients coming to India for treatment at a recognised hospital

Valid 60 days from the date of first arrival in India, with triple entry (up to three visits within the validity period). Tied to treatment at a registered, reputed Indian hospital. Non-extendable — longer or repeat treatment needs a regular Medical Visa from an Indian mission.

e-Medical Attendant Visa (e-MAV)

Family members or attendants travelling with an e-Medical patient

Carries the same 60-day validity and triple entry as the patient's e-Medical visa. A maximum of two attendant visas may be issued against one e-Medical visa, and each is linked to that patient's application.

e-Conference Visa (e-CV)

Delegates attending a conference, seminar or workshop hosted by a ministry, PSU, UN agency or approved organiser

Valid 30 days from the date of arrival in India, single entry. Tied to one specific event: it requires an invitation from the organiser and political clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs (with event clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs where applicable). Not intended for tourism beyond the event.

e-Ayush & e-Ayush Attendant Visa

Wellness, yoga and treatment under India's traditional AYUSH systems of medicine

For therapeutic care and wellness under Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy at a recognised AYUSH or wellness centre. Valid 60 days from first arrival with triple entry, mirroring the e-Medical category, and it has a matching attendant variant (maximum two per patient). A letter from the recognised facility is required.

How we help

How we file your e-Visa

  1. 01

    Eligibility & category check

We confirm your nationality is on the e-Visa eligible list, check your passport validity and travel dates, and pin down the exact category — tourist, business, medical, conference or Ayush — that matches your trip.

  2. 02

    We complete the official application

Our team fills your application on the Government of India portal (indianvisaonline.gov.in) accurately — personal details, passport data, references and travel plans — so everything lines up with your documents and avoids common rejection triggers.

  3. 03

    Document & photo preparation

We prepare your passport bio-page scan and a portal-compliant photograph, plus any category extras (company letter, hospital appointment or event invitation) in the correct format and size.

  4. 04

    Submit, track & pre-arrival guidance

We submit the application, arrange the government fee at cost (as per official rates), track the ETA status, and hand you the approved authorisation with clear guidance for immigration on arrival.

Documents for your e-Visa

  • Passport bio/data page scan — passport must have at least six months' validity and at least two blank pages
  • Recent colour passport-style photograph in the portal's format (square, plain light background, face clearly visible)
  • A working email address — your approved ETA is delivered by email
  • Return or onward travel ticket and proof of sufficient funds for your stay
  • e-Business: business card or company letterhead, plus the inviting Indian company's name, address and contact details
  • e-Medical / e-Medical Attendant: appointment or invitation letter from the Indian hospital, and for an attendant, the patient's e-Medical visa details
  • e-Conference: invitation letter from the organiser and, where required, political or event clearance details
  • e-Ayush: invitation or confirmation letter from the recognised AYUSH or wellness centre

Exact documents depend on your nationality and case — we’ll send a tailored checklist when you get in touch.

FAQs

Which e-Visa category do I need?
It depends on why you are visiting: e-Tourist for sightseeing or seeing family, e-Business for meetings and trade, e-Medical (with an e-Medical Attendant for a companion) for treatment, e-Conference for an approved event, and e-Ayush for wellness or traditional-medicine treatment. Each has its own validity and entry rules, and you must apply under the one that matches your purpose. We help you confirm the right category before you apply.
How early should I apply?
You can apply from a maximum of 120 days before your travel date, and you must apply at least 4 days before arrival. We recommend applying one to two weeks ahead to allow for processing and any clarification. The approved e-Visa is an ETA sent to you by email — carry a printout to show at immigration.
Can I extend or convert my e-Visa once I am in India?
No. India's e-Visa is non-extendable and non-convertible — you cannot switch it to another visa type or stay beyond its limits. If you need a longer stay or a different purpose, you apply afresh, or use a regular (paper) visa obtained from an Indian embassy or consulate. We can guide you on that route too.
Which airports and seaports can I enter through?
An e-Visa is valid for arrival only through a fixed list of designated international airports — including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Kochi, Goa, Ahmedabad and Amritsar — and select designated seaports. You may exit from any authorised immigration checkpoint. The current designated-port list is published on the official portal, and we confirm your point of entry is covered.
What if my nationality is not eligible for the e-Visa?
The e-Visa is open to citizens of a large published list of countries, but not to everyone. If your nationality is not eligible — or you hold a diplomatic or official passport, or an international travel document rather than an ordinary passport — you will need a regular visa applied for through the Indian embassy or consulate. We can assist with that regular-visa route as well.
Does the e-Visa let me travel anywhere in India?
Mostly, but not to Protected, Restricted or Cantonment areas — regions such as parts of the North-East, the interiors of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sikkim and some border zones need a separate Protected or Restricted Area Permit. Share your itinerary and we will flag anything that needs an additional permit.
Does Lifeset Overseas issue the visa?
No. The e-Visa (ETA) is granted solely by the Government of India through its official portal. Lifeset Overseas assists you — checking eligibility, completing the application correctly, preparing documents and tracking the outcome — but the decision and the authorisation come entirely from the Indian authorities.
