Passport services we assist with
This page is for Indian citizens and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) who need a new Indian passport, or want to renew, re-issue or correct an existing one. Whether you are applying for the first time, replacing a lost or expired passport, arranging a passport for your child, or updating your name after marriage, we help you get the paperwork right for the Government of India's Passport Seva system — whether you are in India or applying from abroad.
Fresh passport (first-time)
First-time applicants who have never held an Indian passport
For anyone applying for the very first time. Requires proof of date of birth, proof of present address and proof of identity, and normally involves police verification before or after issuance. Adult passports are issued with 10-year validity.
Re-issue / renewal
Holders whose passport has expired, is near expiry, or has run out of blank pages
For validity expiry, exhausted pages or a change in the booklet. The old passport is submitted and your record continues. When applied within one year before expiry or within three years after expiry — with a clear prior police record and no change in particulars — police verification is usually not repeated.
Tatkal (urgent)
Applicants who need their passport on a tight timeline
A faster government scheme. Once documents are verified the passport is normally dispatched within a few working days, with police verification carried out after issuance. Extra identity proofs are required; government fees apply as per official rates, paid at cost.
Minor's passport (under 18)
Parents and guardians applying for a child
Valid for five years or until the child turns 18, whichever is earlier; children aged 15 to 18 may instead opt for a full 10-year passport. Both parents' consent is required through a notarised Annexure D, and both parents — or one parent carrying both parents' passports — should attend the appointment.
Lost or damaged passport
Anyone whose passport is lost, stolen or damaged
Applied as a re-issue 'in lieu of' the lost or damaged passport, and not available under Tatkal. A police report is needed for a lost or stolen passport, along with the required declaration. We help you assemble the full set correctly so it is not sent back.
Name / address / particulars change
Applicants updating name after marriage, address or other details
Handled as a re-issue for a change in personal particulars — name change after marriage, spouse's name, address or other corrections — supported by the relevant annexures and proof documents.
How we help
How we help with your passport
- 01
Application & online form
We register you on the official Passport Seva Portal, select the correct service (fresh, re-issue, Tatkal or minor) and complete the form accurately, so it isn't held up or rejected for errors.
- 02
Appointment at PSK or POPSK
We book your slot at the nearest Passport Seva Kendra or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra — appointments are mandatory — or guide NRIs to the correct Indian mission or VFS Global centre abroad.
- 03
Documents & annexures
We build a tailored checklist — address and date-of-birth proof, old passport, photographs and any annexures — and check every self-attested copy before your visit.
- 04
PSK visit & police-verification prep
We prepare you for the Passport Seva Kendra counters and explain how police verification works (before issuance, after issuance, or not required for a qualifying re-issue) so there are no surprises.

FAQs
- What is the difference between normal and Tatkal passport service?
- Normal service follows the standard timeline and, where required, may complete police verification before the passport is issued. Tatkal is a faster government scheme: once your documents are verified the passport is normally dispatched within a few working days, and police verification is carried out after issuance. Tatkal needs extra identity proofs and a higher government fee, charged at cost.
- Will there be police verification, and does it happen before or after I get my passport?
- It depends on your case. The passport office marks one of three modes: pre-issuance (a clear police report must arrive before the passport is printed), post-issuance (the passport is issued first and verified afterwards, as in Tatkal), or no police verification for qualifying re-issues. Fresh passports usually require verification, while a re-issue applied within one year before expiry or within three years after expiry, with a clear prior record and no change in particulars, often needs no fresh verification.
- How do I apply for my child's (minor's) passport?
- A minor's passport is valid for five years or until the child turns 18, whichever is earlier; children aged 15 to 18 may instead opt for a full 10-year passport. Both parents must give consent through a notarised Annexure D, and both parents should ideally attend the appointment — or one parent may attend carrying both parents' passports. We help prepare the annexures and the child's documents.
- I am an NRI. Can I renew my Indian passport from abroad?
- Yes. You fill the application on the Passport Seva Portal and then submit your documents in person at the Indian Embassy or Consulate, or the authorised VFS Global centre in your country of residence — not at a PSK in India. Processing timelines abroad differ from those in India. We guide you to the right mission and the correct checklist.
- How do I change my name on my passport after marriage?
- This is handled as a re-issue for a change in personal particulars. You submit supporting proof, such as a marriage certificate, along with the required annexure. We prepare the paperwork so the change is accepted the first time.
- My passport is lost or stolen — what should I do?
- First report it to the police and keep the report or FIR. Then apply for a re-issue 'in lieu of' the lost passport with the required declaration and any available copies of the old passport. A lost or damaged passport cannot be applied for under Tatkal. We help you assemble everything and file it correctly.
- Does Lifeset Overseas issue passports?
- No. Passports are issued only by the Government of India through the Passport Seva system under the Ministry of External Affairs. Lifeset Overseas is a private facilitator: we help you prepare and file the application, book your PSK or POPSK appointment and get your documents right. We do not issue passports or influence the decision.
