The short answer
Your parents apply for a UK Standard Visitor visa from India. It normally allows stays of up to 6 months. If they will visit regularly, a long-term visitor visa (2, 5 or 10 years) lets them come repeatedly — still a maximum of 6 months on each visit.
A single visit — a birth, a wedding, a graduation, a few months with the grandchildren.
Parents who will come every year and should not have to reapply each time.

The official rules
GOV.UK lists seeing family or friends among the things a Standard Visitor may do. Your parents do not need a business or tourism reason — the family visit is the reason.
A Standard Visitor cannot do paid or unpaid work for a UK company, cannot claim public funds, cannot marry or give notice of marriage, and cannot live in the UK through frequent or successive visits.
That last rule is the one that matters for parents. A long-term visa does not mean they can spend most of each year with you. A pattern of back-to-back six-month stays is exactly what the rule is written to stop, and it can affect the next entry or the next application.
GOV.UK’s list includes a valid passport, travel dates, where they will stay, what the trip will cost, their home address and how long they have lived there, their own parents’ names and dates of birth, their income, and any criminal or immigration history. Documents not in English or Welsh need certified translations.

A typical file, not an official checklist — what is needed depends on your parents’ circumstances.
How we prepare the file
The officer is deciding whether two people in Punjab will come back. Your UK salary helps explain who pays for the trip; it does not answer that question. So we build the file around what holds your parents here — the home, the land, a pension, other children, responsibilities — and present your support as the second layer, not the first.
We draft it with you: who is coming, why now, the exact dates, where they will sleep, and who pays for what. A vague “I invite my parents to visit” reads as a form letter. One that names the event and the return date reads as a plan.
Many parents in Punjab have real means and very little documentation — land income, rent in cash, savings in a relative’s name. We sort out what can honestly be evidenced (jamabandi, mandi receipts, pension records, bank history) before anything is filed, because unexplained deposits hurt more than a modest balance.
The longer visa costs several times more, and that larger fee is what is at risk if the application fails. For a first visit with no travel history we usually discuss this on a call before anyone pays — it depends on their travel record and how often they will really come.
No consultancy can promise a visa — the decision belongs to the visa officer. What we control is whether the file is complete, consistent and honest.
Not for a visit. Parents visiting family apply for a Standard Visitor visa like any other visitor. GOV.UK lists seeing family or friends as a permitted reason for that visa.

The government fee is £135 for a visa of up to 6 months. Long-term visitor visas cost £506 for 2 years, £903 for 5 years and £1,128 for 10 years. These are UKVI’s fees as published on GOV.UK, checked on the date shown on this page; our consultancy fee is separate.
The earliest they can apply is 3 months before they travel. GOV.UK says a decision usually comes within 3 weeks of the visa-centre appointment, but that is a usual timeframe, not a promise — apply with margin before a wedding or a due date.
Spending time with grandchildren is an ordinary family visit. What a visitor cannot do is work, paid or unpaid, for a UK business, or use visits to live in the UK. If the real plan is for a parent to stay most of the year as the family’s childcare, a visitor visa is the wrong tool and we will tell you so.

Read the refusal notice first — it sets out the officer’s reasons. A fresh application has to answer those exact points with new evidence; re-sending the same file is the most common way to get a second refusal. We review the notice before advising whether reapplying now makes sense.
