Egypt Visitor / Tourist Visa — overview
What the Egypt tourist visa is
Egypt requires ordinary Indian passport holders to hold a visa before entry. For tourism, the standard route is the e-Visa applied for online at the official portal visa2egypt.gov.eg, which permits a stay of up to 30 days. An embassy / consular sticker visa is the alternative, and a conditional visa-on-arrival exists for travellers who already hold a valid developed-country visa or residence.
This page covers the tourist / visitor visa only. We do not arrange Egyptian work or long-stay residence visas.
e-Visa vs embassy vs visa on arrival
- e-Visa (recommended) — fully online, emailed to you as a PDF. Single-entry or multiple-entry, each stay up to 30 days. Best for most Indian tourists.
- Embassy sticker visa — applied for at the Egyptian Embassy in New Delhi or a consulate. Useful where an e-Visa is unsuitable for your case.
- Visa on arrival — available only to limited groups, most commonly travellers holding a valid Schengen, US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Japan visa or residence permit, arriving through specific airports. It is conditional — do not assume it applies to you.
What the assessing officer wants to see
The Egyptian tourist visa is intent-focused rather than document-heavy. The file should show:
- A genuine tourist purpose — a coherent itinerary with credible flight and accommodation / cruise bookings.
- Funds to cover the trip — recent bank statements with stable balances.
- A clear intent to return — a return flight and your ordinary ties to India.
A clean, consistent file is approved smoothly. Mismatched dates, missing bookings, or an inflated third-party "visa service" site are the usual causes of friction.
Stay, validity and entries
The standard tourist visa permits a stay of up to 30 days. The single-entry e-Visa allows one entry; the multiple-entry e-Visa allows several entries within its validity, each up to 30 days — useful if you combine Egypt with a neighbouring trip and return. The e-Visa is generally valid for entry within a set window from issue, so apply close to, but comfortably ahead of, your travel dates.
Use only the official portal
Apply through the official visa2egypt.gov.eg portal only. Many look-alike sites resell the same government e-Visa at inflated prices. When we file for you, the government fee you pay is the genuine official fee — our service fee is separate and disclosed.

Documents you need
Valid passport
Valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of entry into Egypt, with at least two blank pages.
Passport-size photograph
Recent colour photo on a plain background; a clear scan of the passport bio page is needed for the e-Visa.
Completed visa application
The online e-Visa form on the official visa2egypt.gov.eg portal, or the embassy application form for the consular route.
Confirmed return / onward flight
Round-trip or onward booking showing your entry and exit dates. Reservations are usually sufficient at the e-Visa stage.
Accommodation evidence
Hotel bookings or a Nile-cruise / organised-tour confirmation covering the full duration of your stay.
Proof of funds
Recent bank statements showing you can comfortably cover the trip. Stable, consistent balances reassure the assessing officer.
Travel insurance
Travel medical insurance is strongly recommended and sometimes requested, even where it is not strictly mandatory.
Visa-on-arrival evidence (if applicable)

How the process works
Typical processing: e-Visa is usually decided within a few business days (often within a week); embassy sticker visas typically take around 1–2 weeks. Apply at least 1–2 weeks before travel
Step 1
Confirm the right route
We check whether the e-Visa, the embassy sticker visa, or a conditional visa-on-arrival fits your passport and travel history, and give an honest read on approval.
Step 2
Plan your trip and bookings
Decide your dates and itinerary — typically Cairo, a Luxor–Aswan Nile cruise, and the Red Sea — and prepare flight reservations and accommodation / cruise confirmations.
Step 3
Assemble documents
Passport, photograph, flight and accommodation evidence, proof of funds and insurance, matched to the exact checklist for your chosen route.
Step 4
Apply and pay the government fee
We complete the application on the official portal (or prepare the embassy file). You pay the Egyptian government / consular fee directly, at cost.
Step 5
Receive your visa
The e-Visa arrives by email as a PDF to print and carry; an embassy visa is stamped into your passport and returned.
Step 6
Travel
Enter Egypt with a clean, query-free file, carrying a printed copy of the e-Visa and your booking confirmations for immigration.

Frequently asked questions
- Q.Do Indian citizens need a visa for Egypt?
- Yes. Ordinary Indian passport holders need a visa to enter Egypt. Most tourists use the online e-Visa; an embassy sticker visa and a conditional visa-on-arrival route also exist.
- Q.What is the easiest way to get an Egypt tourist visa from India?
- The official Egypt e-Visa at visa2egypt.gov.eg, applied for before travel. It is emailed to you as a PDF to print and carry. We complete it correctly on your behalf.

- Up to 30 days per entry on the standard tourist visa. A multiple-entry visa allows several entries within its validity, each up to 30 days.
- Q.Can I get an Egypt visa on arrival?
- Only in limited cases — most commonly if you hold a valid Schengen, US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Japan visa or residence permit and arrive through specific airports. Most first-time Indian tourists should use the e-Visa instead.
- Q.How much does an Egypt tourist visa cost?
- The government e-Visa is approximately USD 25 (single entry) or USD 60 (multiple entry), paid directly to the Egyptian authorities. Confirm the current fee on the official portal. Our service fee is separate — from INR 6,999 all-in, with 18% GST included.

Why it matters
Going it alone vs filing with us
On your own
- Guessing the document list — one missing or wrongly formatted paper triggers a refusal.
- Generic cover letters copied from the internet that officers recognise and flag.
- No read on peak rejection windows or what this visa post is strict about.
- Government and VFS fees are non-refundable — money lost if you are refused.
- A refusal stamp follows you and weakens every future visa application.
With Lifeset Overseas
- An honest case assessment before you spend a rupee on government fees.
- A file built to the embassy's exact checklist and in the exact order.
- Weak finances, ties or purpose identified and fixed before submission.
- Previously refused? We can rescue and rebuild the file.
- 1,200+ approvals, handled by one licensed consultant end to end.
Refused before?
A refusal isn't the end
Refused applicants often win the second time — once the real reason is fixed. If a Egypt visa has been refused, we:
- Read the actual refusal letter and pinpoint the real gaps.
- Advise whether to pull the officer's notes (CAIPS / GCMS) for the true reason.
- Identify which part was weak — funds, employment, purpose or ties.
- Tell you honestly whether to reapply now or strengthen the file first.
- Rebuild a stronger application — same fixed fee, refusal or first try.
