Indonesia visas, built right for Indian travellers.

For Indian passport holders, a trip to Bali, Jakarta or Yogyakarta usually means an electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) for a 30-day stay, or a B211A visit visa applied for before you fly when you need longer or a clearer purpose. We work out which route fits your trip and prepare a clean, query-free file so your visit goes ahead without a hitch.

Indonesia is one of Asia's most popular holiday destinations for Indian travellers — Bali's beaches and temples, the cultural heart of Yogyakarta, the diving around Komodo and Raja Ampat, and the business hub of Jakarta. For tourism and short business trips it is straightforward to visit, and the visa is normally an online formality rather than an embassy ordeal.

Indonesia is not a visa-free destination for Indian passport holders. You need either a Visa on Arrival (e-VOA / B1) or a B211A visit visa before you travel — the right one depends on how long you are staying and why.

This page is an India-focused guide to visiting Indonesia: the visa routes, who needs what, the documents, the process, the costs, and a few honest tips.

Which Indonesia visa do Indian travellers need?

| Your trip | Route | Stay | Where you apply | |---|---|---|---| | Holiday / short business, up to ~30 days | e-VOA (B1), or VOA at the airport | 30 days, extendable once by 30 | Online before travel, or on arrival at major airports | | Longer stay, family visit, longer business | B211A visit visa | Up to 60 days, extendable | Online before you fly (sponsor/guarantor required) |

For a typical Bali or Jakarta holiday, the electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) is the simplest path: you apply online on the official Indonesian immigration portal, pay the fee, and receive an e-VOA to show on arrival — avoiding the airport payment queue. The same visa can also be bought on arrival (VOA) at major international airports such as Bali (Denpasar) and Jakarta.

If you need to stay beyond what a VOA allows, or your purpose is better documented (extended family visit, longer business engagement), the B211A visit visa is the route — it is applied for before travel and usually needs an Indonesian sponsor or guarantor.

The e-VOA / Visa on Arrival (B1)

  • Stay: 30 days from entry, extendable once for a further 30 days (so up to 60 days total).
  • Purpose: tourism, family visits, short business meetings, transit. It is not for working or for paid activity.
  • Single entry: the VOA / e-VOA is a single-entry visa — if you leave Indonesia, you need a fresh visa to return.
  • Passport: must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival, with blank pages.
  • Onward travel: you must hold a return or onward ticket.

The e-VOA is requested online before departure on the official molina (Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration) portal. The benefit over the airport VOA is that you skip the payment counter and your status is pre-cleared.

The B211A visit visa

The B211A is a single- or multiple-entry visit visa applied for online before you travel. It typically grants an initial 60-day stay and can be extended from inside Indonesia. It generally requires an Indonesian sponsor or guarantor (an individual or a company) and more supporting documents than the VOA. It suits longer holidays, extended family visits, and longer business visits where the VOA's 30+30 days is not enough.

Documents you will typically need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival, with blank pages.
  • A recent passport-style photograph to the required specification.
  • Return or onward flight ticket.
  • Accommodation evidence — hotel bookings, or a host's address and invitation for family visits.
  • Proof of sufficient funds for your stay (bank statements / card).
  • For the B211A: details of your Indonesian sponsor or guarantor, and purpose-specific documents (invitation, business letter, family relationship evidence).

The exact checklist varies by visa type and can change, so we confirm the current requirement against the official portal before you submit.

How the process works

  1. Tell us your trip — destination, dates, length of stay and purpose. We confirm whether an e-VOA/VOA is enough or whether you need a B211A.
  2. Assemble the file — passport, photo, tickets, accommodation and funds evidence; for a B211A, the sponsor and supporting documents.
  3. Apply online — the e-VOA on the official immigration portal, or the B211A through the visa application system, and pay the government fee.
  4. Receive the visa — the e-VOA is issued electronically to show on arrival; the B211A is issued before you fly.
  5. Travel and, if needed, extend — both routes can be extended once from inside Indonesia at an immigration office.

Indonesia visa costs — what to budget

| Route | Government / portal fee (approx) | Also budget for | |---|---|---| | e-VOA / VOA (B1) | IDR 500,000 (about INR 2,700–3,000) | Return ticket, accommodation, trip funds, optional extension | | B211A visit visa | A higher defined fee | Sponsor documents, accommodation, trip funds, extension |

Indonesia visa processing times

| Route | Typical processing | Note | |---|---|---| | e-VOA | A few hours to a few working days | Apply several days before travel to be safe | | B211A visit visa | Around a week to a couple of weeks | Sponsor and document checks take time |

Tips for Indian travellers to Indonesia

  • Six-month passport validity is strictly enforced — check the date before booking.
  • The VOA / e-VOA is single entry. If your trip hops out to Singapore or Malaysia and back, you will need a new visa to re-enter Indonesia, so plan the order of your itinerary.
  • Always carry a confirmed return or onward ticket and proof of accommodation — these can be checked on arrival.
  • An overstay carries a daily fine in Indonesia — extend in good time rather than risk it.
  • Indonesia visa rules and fees change periodically; we verify the current position before you apply.

Is the Visa on Arrival single or multiple entry? Single entry. If you leave Indonesia you need a fresh visa to return.

How much is the Indonesia Visa on Arrival fee? The government fee is IDR 500,000 (roughly INR 2,700–3,000, depending on the exchange rate). Our consultancy fee for preparing and filing your visitor visa is separate, from INR 4,999 all-in.
