Indonesia Visitor / Tourist Visa — overview

What the Indonesia visitor visa is

For Indian passport holders, Indonesia is a visa-required destination — there is no visa-free entry. For a holiday or a short business trip the usual route is the electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA / B1): you apply and pay online on the official Indonesian immigration portal before you fly, and present it on arrival. The same visa can also be bought on arrival (VOA) at major airports such as Bali (Denpasar) and Jakarta.

The e-VOA gives a 30-day stay, extendable once for a further 30 days, so up to 60 days in total. It is a single-entry visa for tourism, family visits, transit and short business meetings — not for paid work.

For longer stays, extended family visits or longer business engagements, the B211A visit visa is the route. It is applied for online before travel, typically grants an initial 60-day stay, is extendable, and generally needs an Indonesian sponsor or guarantor.

e-VOA vs B211A — which one?

| | e-VOA / VOA (B1) | B211A visit visa | |---|---|---| | Initial stay | 30 days | Up to 60 days | | Extension | Once, +30 days | Extendable from inside Indonesia | | Entries | Single | Single or multiple | | Sponsor needed | No | Yes (individual or company) | | Where to apply | Online before travel, or at the airport | Online before travel | | Best for | Bali / Jakarta holidays, short trips | Longer holidays, family visits, longer business |

What the officer is looking for

Indonesian entry is generally straightforward, but on arrival you should be ready to show:

  • A passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival, with a blank page.
  • A confirmed return or onward ticket.
  • Accommodation details and sufficient funds for your stay.
  • A purpose consistent with a visit — tourism, family, transit or short business. The visitor visa does not permit employment.

Single entry — plan your itinerary

The VOA / e-VOA is single entry. A common mistake on a Southeast Asia trip is to fly Bali to Singapore and back, expecting to re-enter Indonesia on the same visa — you cannot. If your itinerary leaves and returns, plan a fresh visa for the second Indonesian leg, or reorder your trip so Indonesia comes last.

Overstays

Indonesia charges a daily fine for overstaying, and longer overstays carry more serious consequences. If you need more time, extend before your stay expires at an immigration office rather than overrun — both the VOA and B211A can be extended.

How we can help

We are a licensed visa consultancy based in Patiala, Punjab. We prepare Indonesia visitor visas end to end: confirming whether you need an e-VOA/VOA or a B211A, checking passport validity and onward-ticket requirements, assembling accommodation and funds evidence, arranging the Indonesian sponsor for a B211A, and filing on the official portal. One consultant sees your case from first call to decision. Our visitor-visa filing starts from INR 4,999 all-in (18% GST included) — Indonesian government and portal fees are separate, passed through at cost. Documents you need

  • Valid passport

Valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival in Indonesia, with at least one blank page.

  • Passport-style photograph

A recent colour photograph meeting the required specification (uploaded for the e-VOA, or supplied for a B211A).

  • Return or onward ticket

Confirmed return or onward flight ticket out of Indonesia — this can be checked on arrival.

  • Accommodation evidence

Hotel bookings for your stay, or — for a family visit — the host's address and an invitation.

Bank statement or card showing you can cover your stay. Indonesian immigration may ask for evidence of funds on arrival.

  • Indonesian sponsor or guarantor (B211A only)

The B211A visit visa generally requires an Indonesian individual or company sponsor/guarantor to apply on your behalf.

Invitation letter, business letter or family-relationship evidence matching the stated purpose of a longer visit.

6 steps

How the process works

Typical processing: e-VOA is typically issued within a few hours to a few working days; the B211A visit visa usually takes around one to two weeks. Apply several days ahead of travel to be safe

  1. Step 1

    Confirm the right route

Decide between the e-VOA / Visa on Arrival (up to 30 days, extendable once) and the B211A visit visa (longer stays). We confirm which fits your dates and purpose.

  2. Step 2

    Check passport and book travel

Confirm your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival, and arrange return/onward flights and accommodation.

  3. Step 3

    Assemble documents

Passport, photograph, return ticket, accommodation and funds evidence. For a B211A, add the Indonesian sponsor and purpose-specific documents.

  4. Step 4

Apply online and pay the fee

Submit the e-VOA on the official Indonesian immigration (molina) portal, or the B211A through the visa application system, and pay the government fee.

  5. Step 5

    Receive the visa

The e-VOA is issued electronically to present on arrival; the B211A is issued before you fly. Carry a copy with you.

  6. Step 6

Enter Indonesia and extend if needed

Show your e-VOA/visa and onward ticket on arrival. Both routes can be extended once from inside Indonesia at an immigration office before they expire.

Frequently asked questions

Q.Do Indian citizens need a visa for Indonesia?
Yes. Indian passport holders are not eligible for visa-free entry to Indonesia. You need an e-VOA / Visa on Arrival for a short visit, or a B211A visit visa for a longer stay.
Q.How long can I stay on the Indonesia Visa on Arrival?
30 days from entry, extendable once for a further 30 days — up to 60 days in total. The B211A can give a longer initial stay.
Q.Can I get the Indonesia visa at the airport?
Yes. The Visa on Arrival can be bought at major Indonesian airports such as Bali (Denpasar) and Jakarta. The e-VOA simply lets you arrange and pay for it online before you fly, skipping the airport counter.
Q.Is the Indonesia tourist visa single or multiple entry?
The VOA / e-VOA is single entry — if you leave Indonesia you need a fresh visa to return. The B211A can be issued as single or multiple entry.
Q.How much does the Indonesia Visa on Arrival cost?
The Indonesian government fee is IDR 500,000 (roughly INR 2,700 to 3,000, depending on the exchange rate). Lifeset Overseas charges a separate consultancy fee for preparing and filing your visa, from INR 4,999 all-in with 18% GST included; government and portal fees are passed through at cost.
Q.How long must my passport be valid?
At least 6 months from your date of arrival in Indonesia, with at least one blank page.
Q.Can I work in Indonesia on a visitor visa?
No. The VOA, e-VOA and B211A are for tourism, family visits, transit and short business meetings only — not paid work. Employment requires a separate work route that we do not handle.
Q.How long does the Indonesia visa take to process?
The e-VOA is often issued within hours to a few working days. The B211A visit visa usually takes around one to two weeks. Apply several days ahead of travel to be safe.

Why it matters

Going it alone vs filing with us

On your own

  • Guessing the document list — one missing or wrongly formatted paper triggers a refusal.
  • Generic cover letters copied from the internet that officers recognise and flag.
  • No read on peak rejection windows or what this visa post is strict about.
  • Government and VFS fees are non-refundable — money lost if you are refused.
  • A refusal stamp follows you and weakens every future visa application.

With Lifeset Overseas

  • An honest case assessment before you spend a rupee on government fees.
  • A file built to the embassy's exact checklist and in the exact order.
  • Weak finances, ties or purpose identified and fixed before submission.
  • Previously refused? We can rescue and rebuild the file.
  • 1,200+ approvals, handled by one licensed consultant end to end.

Refused before?

A refusal isn't the end

Refused applicants often win the second time — once the real reason is fixed. If a Indonesia visa has been refused, we:

  • Read the actual refusal letter and pinpoint the real gaps.
  • Advise whether to pull the officer's notes (CAIPS / GCMS) for the true reason.
  • Identify which part was weak — funds, employment, purpose or ties.
  • Tell you honestly whether to reapply now or strengthen the file first.
  • Rebuild a stronger application — same fixed fee, refusal or first try.
