Two scholarships worth knowing by name

Darmasiswa, the government's language-and-culture programme, funds non-degree immersion across dozens of campuses. KNB funds full degree study for students from developing countries, India included. Both are genuinely free to apply for on annual windows announced early in the year. They are the strongest reason Indonesia appears on an Indian student's shortlist, and they price at zero.

For generic foreign-degree aims, we say honestly that other destinations serve better, and we would rather tell you that than take a fee for a mismatch.

  • Darmasiswa is the culture-and-language programme: non-degree, immersive, government-funded. KNB funds degree study for students from developing countries. Both are real, free to apply for, and run annual windows. The usual rule: anyone charging to arrange them is selling a form.

  • At the top universities' international programmes, yes; the broader system teaches in Bahasa Indonesia. The language is famously learnable, but "famously learnable" still means a real year of effort, and your plan should say which side of that line you are on.

  • Student work rights are limited; post-study employment runs through employer-sponsored work permits under Indonesian labour rules. Both are machinery that exists rather than promises. We brief the current position when the aim is staying on.
