Ireland Study Visa
Ireland decides study visas on documents alone — no interview to talk your way through. The course must sit on the eligible-programmes list, the funds must be clean and in your name, and the story must survive a cold read.

Ireland Study Visa — overview
Ireland is an EU member but is not part of the Schengen Area. A Ireland visa does not let you travel on to Schengen countries, and time spent here is counted separately from your Schengen 90/180 days.
A visa decided entirely on paper
Ireland does something most destinations do not: it decides your study visa without ever speaking to you. There is no Campus France-style interview, no consular conversation — an officer reads the file cold and rules on it. Applicants used to talking their way through weak spots find this brutal. Files built for a cold read find it liberating.
Everything we prepare for Ireland is written for that absent conversation: the SOP answers the questions an officer cannot ask, the funds evidence shows its own history, and every anomaly in the academic record explains itself before it is queried.
The list that outranks every brochure
Non-EEA students can only get study permission for programmes on the ILEP — the government's eligible-programmes register. This is the first thing we verify, because the consequence of getting it wrong is absolute: not on the list, no visa. If a recruiter is pushing a course, check the register yourself; it is public precisely so students can.
Funds: history beats size
Irish refusals cluster around money — rarely because there was too little, usually because it appeared too suddenly. A balance that materialised a week before application, a loan structured to look like savings, an account in an uncle's name: officers read these instantly. The requirement is a set minimum in your own name; the winning evidence is the boring kind — funds resting quietly across months of statements. The exact figure is revised periodically; we confirm the current one before your file goes in.
The quiet superpower: Stamp 1G
Ireland's post-study permission — Stamp 1G — lets graduates stay and work without an employment permit for a defined period after finishing. For master's graduates it has been the springboard into Ireland's tech and pharma employers. It is granted under rules in force at graduation time, so we state it as it stands and never as a promise.
Where the budget actually goes
Dublin rent is the number that breaks naive budgets — the rest of Ireland is markedly cheaper, and several strong universities sit outside the capital. Tuition varies by institution and level; verify on the university page and treat any agent's flat figure with suspicion. Insurance, registration and the funds requirement stack on top — we map the full number before you commit to anything.

Documents you need
Offer from an ILEP-listed programme
Full-time, on the Interim List of Eligible Programmes. Verify the listing yourself on the official register before paying any deposit.
Tuition paid or evidenced as required
Colleges typically require a defined portion of fees paid before the visa application; the receipts go in the file.
Proof of funds in your own name
A set minimum in accessible funds, held and evidenced over time — sudden large deposits without a paper trail are the most common refusal trigger.
English test where required
IELTS or equivalent at the level the programme and immigration expect; some institutions accept alternatives.
A cold-readable SOP
Why this course, why Ireland, why it fits your history — written for an officer who will never meet you.
Private medical insurance
Required for registration; group schemes through colleges are common.
Clean immigration history, explained if not
Prior refusals anywhere must be declared and addressed head-on — concealment is discovered and is fatal.

How the process works
Typical processing: Study visa decisions for India are typically measured in weeks; apply as soon as you hold an offer and no earlier than three months before travel. Peak season (July–September) runs slower.
Step 1
Confirm the course is ILEP-listed
On the official register, not the college's marketing page.
Step 2
Secure the offer and pay what the college requires
Keep every receipt; the money trail is part of the visa file.
Step 3
Assemble the funds evidence over time
Statements that show funds resting in your name — not appearing the week before application.
Step 4
Apply online (AVATS) and submit at VFS
Summary form online, then physical documents and biometrics.
Step 5
Decision on documents
No interview. If refused, the refusal letter lists reasons — appealable and fixable with the right rebuild.
Step 6
Register after arrival for your IRP card
Stamp 2 goes on your registration — it is what actually permits your stay and part-time work.

Frequently asked questions
Not routinely — decisions are made on the written file.
That is why documentation quality decides Irish study visas: the officer cannot ask you to clarify anything, so the file must anticipate every question.
Immigration sets a minimum amount that must be available to you in your own name, separate from tuition.
The figure is revised periodically, so verify the current one on the official site — we check it for every file we prepare. What matters as much as the amount is its history: officers look for funds that have rested, not appeared.
Stamp 2 students on eligible courses may work part-time up to a capped number of hours in term time, with a higher cap during scheduled holidays.
The caps are set by immigration and revised occasionally; never build tuition into your work plan.
A period of permission to remain and work without an employment permit — currently structured as one year after an honours bachelor's and up to two after a master's.
It is a genuine bridge into the Irish job market and one reason Ireland punches above its size for Indian students. Rules are set by policy and can change; no one can promise what they will be when you graduate.
No.
Admission and the visa are separate decisions by separate authorities, and nobody can guarantee an immigration outcome. A college selling certainty about a decision it does not make tells you something about the college.
Why it matters
Going it alone vs filing with us
On your own
- Guessing the document list — one missing or wrongly formatted paper triggers a refusal.
- Generic cover letters copied from the internet that officers recognise and flag.
- No read on peak rejection windows or what this visa post is strict about.
- Government and VFS fees are non-refundable — money lost if you are refused.
- A refusal stamp follows you and weakens every future visa application.
With Lifeset Overseas
- An honest case assessment before you spend a rupee on government fees.
- A file built to the embassy's exact checklist and in the exact order.
- Weak finances, ties or purpose identified and fixed before submission.
- Previously refused? We can rescue and rebuild the file.
- Every case handled by one consultant, end to end.
Refused before?
A refusal isn't the end
A refusal is not a permanent bar — but it only improves if the actual reason is found and answered, and nobody can tell you a second application will succeed. If a Ireland visa has been refused, we:
- Read the actual refusal letter and pinpoint the real gaps.
- Advise whether to pull the officer's notes (CAIPS / GCMS) for the true reason.
- Identify which part was weak — funds, employment, purpose or ties.
- Tell you honestly whether to reapply now or strengthen the file first.
- Rebuild a stronger application — same fixed fee, refusal or first try.

Dependent & Family Visa
Ireland ties family reunification tightly to the sponsor's permission type — Critical Skills permit holders enjoy immediate family reunification, while students generally cannot bring dependants at all.
