Turkey Visitor / Tourist Visa — overview
What a Turkey visitor visa is
The Turkey visitor visa is a short-stay entry visa for tourism, visiting family or friends, and short business visits. For Indian passport holders there are two routes, and which one applies depends on a single factor — whether you already hold a valid Schengen, USA, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit.
- e-Visa route (online). If you hold a valid (used or unused) Schengen, US, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit, you can apply for the Turkey e-Visa on the official portal. It is a single-entry e-Visa allowing a stay of up to 30 days, valid for 180 days from the date you choose. No embassy visit.
- Sticker visa route (consular). If you do not hold a qualifying third-country visa, you cannot use the e-Visa. You apply for a sticker visa through the Turkish mission, handled in India via VFS — a document-led, in-person application.
The visa governs entry. It is a visitor visa only: it does not permit work or long-term stay.
How to know which route is yours
This is the first thing we check, because applying on the wrong route wastes time and money.

What kind of trip the visa is for
The Turkey short-stay visa covers:
- Tourism — holidays, sightseeing, family trips.
- Visiting family or friends — supported by host details where relevant.
- Short business visits — meetings, conferences, trade events. Not employment.
It is not a work visa. Working in Turkey requires a separate work permit, which we do not arrange. It is also not for long-term stay, study or relocation.
What the officer is looking for
A Turkey visa decision turns on whether you are a genuine short-stay visitor who will leave at the end of the trip. The file should answer three quiet questions:
- Is the trip genuine and planned? A coherent itinerary, return/onward flight reservation, and confirmed accommodation that match your stated dates.
- Are you funded? Bank statements showing consistent activity, plus salary slips or ITR, demonstrating you can cover the trip.
- Will you return to India? Employment or business ties, family responsibilities, property — credible reasons to come home.
First-time travellers face a slightly higher evidence bar; a clean prior travel history (Schengen, UK, US, Canada, Australia, NZ, or earlier Turkey visas) strengthens the case.
Costs — what to budget
Most Indian applicants take the sticker visa: government fees total about ₹18,120 for a 3-month single-entry or ₹20,240 for 6 months (a ₹5,400 visa fee plus a ₹12,720/₹14,840 appointment fee — about ₹6,890 is paid online at booking, the rest at our office). If you hold a valid Schengen, USA, UK or Ireland visa, you can instead use the online e-Visa for around USD 43 (≈ ₹3,600). Confirm current figures at filing. Beyond the visa, budget for flights and hotels.
Our preparation service is from ₹5,999 all-in, with 18% GST included. Government, VFS and consular fees are passed through at cost — we do not mark them up.
Refusals and what to do next
Turkey refusals are usually tied to a weak genuine-visit case — thin funds, unclear ties to India, an inconsistent itinerary, or (on the e-Visa route) a misread of eligibility. The right next step is rarely a blind re-file: identify the specific weakness, strengthen it honestly, and lodge a cleaner application on the correct route. We diagnose each profile individually.

Documents you need
Valid passport
Passport valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure from Turkey (Turkey requires at least 60 days' validity beyond the visa expiry; six months is the safe standard), with blank pages.
Qualifying third-country visa (e-Visa route)
For the online e-Visa, a valid (used or unused) Schengen, USA, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit. This is the single factor that decides e-Visa eligibility; without it you take the sticker route.
Recent photograph
One recent biometric colour photo, white background, taken within the last three months. Required on the sticker route and for supporting documents.
Proof of funds
Bank statements (typically 3-6 months), salary slips or ITR, to show you can fund the trip and satisfy the genuine-visitor test.
Ties to India
Employment letter or business proof, ITR, family or property links — evidence supporting your intent to return to India.
Travel itinerary
Return or onward flight reservation and confirmed accommodation (hotel booking or host details) covering your stay.
Cover letter
A short letter setting out your travel plan, dates and purpose of visit.
Travel medical insurance
Recommended for the trip; sometimes requested on the sticker (consular) route.

How the process works
Typical processing: e-Visa (only for valid Schengen/US/UK/Ireland visa holders): usually issued within minutes to a few hours. Sticker visa via the official appointment system: about 1–3 weeks; apply at least 3–4 weeks before travel.
Step 1
Confirm which route you qualify for
If you hold a valid Schengen, USA, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit, you can use the online e-Visa. If not, you apply for a sticker visa through the Turkish mission / VFS. We confirm the right route before you spend anything.
Step 2
Plan your trip and bookings
Decide your dates, prepare a return/onward flight reservation and accommodation booking, and keep them refundable until the visa is approved.
Step 3
Assemble documents
Passport, photograph, funds and ties evidence, itinerary, cover letter, and — for the e-Visa route — the valid qualifying third-country visa. The file must be internally consistent.
Step 4
Lodge the application
On the e-Visa route, the application is submitted on the official portal with the government fee (approx USD 43). On the sticker route, it is lodged in person via VFS with biometrics where required.
Step 5
Receive the visa
The e-Visa is usually issued within minutes to a few hours (occasionally up to 24 hours). The sticker visa typically takes one to three weeks. Print or carry the approved visa.
Step 6
Enter Turkey
Present your valid visa and supporting documents at the border. The e-Visa permits a single-entry stay of up to 30 days within its 180-day validity.

Frequently asked questions
- Q.Do Indians need a visa for Turkey?
- Yes. Indian passport holders need a visa for Turkey. There is no visa-free entry and no general visa-on-arrival. You apply either online for the e-Visa (if you hold a valid Schengen, USA, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit) or for a sticker visa through the Turkish mission / VFS.
- Q.Can I get a Turkey e-Visa as an Indian?
- Only if you hold a valid (used or unused) Schengen, USA, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit. With one of those, you can apply for the single-entry e-Visa online for a stay of up to 30 days, valid for 180 days. Without a qualifying visa, you must apply for a sticker visa.
- Q.What if I do not have a Schengen, US, UK or Ireland visa?
- Then you cannot use the e-Visa. You apply for a sticker (consular) visa through the Turkish mission, handled in India via VFS — a document-led, in-person application with biometrics where required.
- Q.How much does the Turkey visa cost?
- The e-Visa government fee is approximately USD 43 (about INR 3,600) per applicant — approximate, confirm at filing. Sticker visa fees vary by type. Our preparation service is from INR 5,999 all-in (18% GST included), with all third-party fees passed through at cost.
- Q.How long does the Turkey e-Visa take?
- The e-Visa is usually issued within minutes to a few hours, occasionally up to 24 hours. The sticker visa takes longer — typically one to three weeks — so apply well ahead of travel.
- Q.How long can I stay in Turkey on a tourist visa?
- The standard e-Visa allows a single-entry stay of up to 30 days within its 180-day validity. Sticker-visa conditions are set on the visa itself.
- Q.Can I work in Turkey on a visitor visa?
- No. The visitor visa is for tourism, family visits and short business only. Working in Turkey requires a separate work permit, which is not a service we provide.
Why it matters
Going it alone vs filing with us
On your own
- Guessing the document list — one missing or wrongly formatted paper triggers a refusal.
- Generic cover letters copied from the internet that officers recognise and flag.
- No read on peak rejection windows or what this visa post is strict about.
- Government and VFS fees are non-refundable — money lost if you are refused.
- A refusal stamp follows you and weakens every future visa application.
With Lifeset Overseas
- An honest case assessment before you spend a rupee on government fees.
- A file built to the embassy's exact checklist and in the exact order.
- Weak finances, ties or purpose identified and fixed before submission.
- Previously refused? We can rescue and rebuild the file.
- 1,200+ approvals, handled by one licensed consultant end to end.
Refused before?
A refusal isn't the end
Refused applicants often win the second time — once the real reason is fixed. If a Turkey visa has been refused, we:
- Read the actual refusal letter and pinpoint the real gaps.
- Advise whether to pull the officer's notes (CAIPS / GCMS) for the true reason.
- Identify which part was weak — funds, employment, purpose or ties.
- Tell you honestly whether to reapply now or strengthen the file first.
- Rebuild a stronger application — same fixed fee, refusal or first try.
