Cyprus is a sunny Mediterranean island and EU member that has built a genuine international-education sector — with a wide range of English-taught degree programmes and a warm, welcoming environment for Indian students.
Cyprus is an EU member, but — unlike most of this list — it is not yet part of the Schengen Area, though it is working toward joining. A Cyprus study visa is its own national visa; it does not, on its own, give Schengen mobility.
For Indian students, the appeal is a recognised EU degree taught in English, in a warm climate, at a moderate cost. English is very widely used across the island, and Cyprus has several universities — public and private — that focus heavily on international students.
The honest counterweights: Cyprus is small, the job market is modest, and because private universities play a large role, choosing a properly recognised, well-regarded institution is especially important. It suits a student who wants an affordable, English-taught EU degree in a warm climate, and who checks recognition carefully.
What a study visa for Cyprus involves
Indian students apply for a Cypriot student visa / residence permit once they hold an admission from a recognised Cypriot institution. You must show proof of funds for your living costs, alongside your admission, accommodation and health cover. After arrival, students register for a residence permit for the duration of their course.
Because Cyprus is an EU member but not currently in the Schengen Area, a Cyprus study visa covers Cyprus specifically — plan your travel on that basis, not on a Schengen assumption.

Where Indian students go in Cyprus
Cyprus has both public and private universities with a strong international focus. The University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology are the leading public institutions; several private universities also teach large international cohorts in English. Nicosia, the capital, and Limassol are the main student cities. Because private institutions are prominent, verifying recognition and reputation is an essential first step.
The Indian community in Cyprus
Cyprus has a visible Indian and South Asian community, including a substantial student population, concentrated in Nicosia and Limassol. Indian groceries, restaurants and a student community are present in the main cities. The climate is warm and Mediterranean — among the easiest adjustments from Punjab of any European destination.
