Cyprus Business Visa — overview
Cyprus is an EU member but is not part of the Schengen Area. A Cyprus visa does not let you travel on to Schengen countries, and time spent here is counted separately from your Schengen 90/180 days.
Cyprus is an EU member but not part of the Schengen Area, so a business trip there needs a Cypriot national visa — a Schengen visa does not cover it.
The Cypriot checklist is short, and two items on it are unlike anything a Schengen state asks for: a bank guarantee from your host in Cyprus, stamped by the Migration Department, and photographs signed on the back. For a business visit the invitation letter from the Cypriot company carries the purpose of the trip.
Not Schengen — settle that first
Business travellers who hold a valid Schengen visa often assume it takes them to Cyprus. Cyprus is a member of the European Union but is outside the Schengen Area, and it issues its own national visa. If your trip is Athens and then Limassol, those are two different visa questions. Work that out before the meetings are fixed.
The host's bank guarantee
The item that makes a Cypriot file different is on the checklist in one line: a bank guarantee from the host, stamped by the Migration Department.
- It comes from the company or person hosting you in Cyprus, not from you.
- It carries the stamp of Cyprus's Migration Department.
- Your application in India cannot be completed without it.
For a business visit, that means the Cypriot company has two jobs: write the invitation letter, and arrange the guarantee. Ask them about the second one first — it is the step with a government office in it, so it is the one that sets your timetable.
Your own papers
Cyprus keeps the applicant's side short, but precise:
- Two photographs, each signed on the back.
- A letter from your employer — or your own letter of explanation if you run your own business.
- An original bank statement for the last three months.
- Tax declarations for the last three years.
- A two-way flight itinerary and a hotel reservation.
- Medical travel insurance of at least EUR 30,000, valid for the whole stay in Cyprus.
One story across four documents
The invitation, the guarantee, your employer's letter and your itinerary should name the same company, the same dates and the same purpose. When the Cypriot papers are prepared in Nicosia and the Indian ones in Patiala, it is the small differences — a company name abbreviated in one, a date a day out in another — that cause a query. We read them against each other before the file goes in.

Frequently asked questions
