Slovakia Family & Friends Visit Visa — overview
The Slovakia Family & Friends Visit Visa is a short-stay Schengen visa (Type C) for visiting relatives or friends who live in Slovakia, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
The heart of this application is the host: an invitation from the family member or friend with their address and contact details, and evidence of their legal residence in Slovakia. Where you are visiting relatives, proof of the family relationship is also needed.

Slovakia visa to visit family and friends from India
Visiting a relative or friend in Slovakia uses the short-stay Schengen visa (type C), up to 90 days in any 180-day period with Slovakia as the main destination. The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi applies the harmonised list of supporting documents for India, lodged through VFS Global.
Documents specific to a family or friend visit
- Proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation from your host, using the Slovak national form where applicable, together with proof of your relationship to the host.
- If the host is not covering your costs, your own proof of accommodation and funds as below.
Documents for all applicants
- Proof of the intended means of transport and itinerary, and a cover letter stating purpose, duration, accompanying persons, transport and accommodation.
- Proof of financial means: an original stamped bank statement showing movements over the last three months and the income-tax return acknowledgement for the last two assessment years, with the employed, self-employed or retired supplements the list specifies.
- Copies of the passport's biodata page, last page, and previous Schengen entry and exit stamps.
- Minors travelling with one parent: the other parent's notarised consent, or a court order proving sole custody.
Family visits are decided on your reasons to return to India as much as on the host's support, so the file should show your employment, business or family responsibilities at home.
