Applying for a visa from Amritsar
Half the families in Amritsar have someone in Canada or the UK. A son in Brampton. A daughter in Southall. Grandchildren who have never seen the Golden Temple. So the visa questions in this city are mostly family questions. Can the parents visit for the wedding? Can they stay longer than six months? Can the grandparents get a Super Visa and stop applying every year?
We are Lifeset Overseas, a visa consultancy in Patiala licensed by the Punjab government (Licence No. 849/DC/PTA/PLA/LC-3/2024). Amritsar is about 2.5 to 3 hours from us by road. That distance does not matter much, because the file itself is built over WhatsApp and phone. Most of our Amritsar clients never travel to Patiala. Coming to our office is optional.
Where you give your biometrics
Biometrics means your fingerprints and photo. Most countries need them once per application, and you must give them in person at a visa centre. Amritsar does not have one. The nearest centres are in Jalandhar, which handles Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and France through VFS, and in Chandigarh, which covers more countries.
Here is how it works with us:
- You send us your documents on WhatsApp — scans or clear photos are enough.
- We check them, tell you what is missing, and build the application.
- We book your biometrics slot at Jalandhar or Chandigarh, whichever suits you.
- You go there once, give your biometrics, and come home.
- We track the file and tell you the moment there is news.
One clear point: we do not have an office in Amritsar. If someone in the city tells you they are a Lifeset branch, they are not. Our only office is Shop No. 2, near PRTC Workshop, Nabha Road, Patiala.
Visitor and Super Visa files for families abroad
The most common request from Amritsar is a visitor visa for parents. A visitor visa is a short stay, usually for a wedding, a birth or just to see the family. The file has to show two things: that the trip has a clear purpose, and that you have a life in Punjab to return to. Land, a pension, a shop, other children here — these are the proof.
For parents and grandparents of people settled in Canada, the Super Visa is often the better choice. It allows longer stays than a normal visitor visa. Your child in Canada must meet an income line, and you need medical insurance from an approved insurer. We tell you at the start whether the income line is met, so you do not pay for insurance and then get refused.
If a spouse is joining a partner already abroad, that is a dependent visa file. Those turn on proof of the relationship, so we spend time on the photos, the call records and the wedding papers.
Study visas from Amritsar
Students from Amritsar apply to Canada, the UK, Australia and Europe. A study visa file needs an admission offer, proof that the fees and living costs are covered, and a clear reason for choosing that course. If a relative abroad is paying, the sponsor papers have to be done carefully. We handle sponsored files often, so we know what an officer looks for.
Those who want to move for good, rather than study first, can look at permanent residency. For Canada that usually means Express Entry, a points system based on age, education, language and work. We tell you your points honestly before you spend on tests.
If your visa was refused
A refusal is common and it is not the end. Every refusal letter has a reason in it, even when it is written in dull official language. We read the letter for you, free of charge, and tell you in plain words what went wrong and whether it can be fixed. Then we rebuild the file so the same reason cannot be used again. Read more about our refusal recovery service.
Not sure if you should apply yet?
Before you pay embassy fees, you can get our Visa Risk & Approval Report for ₹499. We look at your full situation — funds, ties, purpose, travel history — and tell you where the weak points are and what to fix before filing. Many Amritsar families use it to decide whether to apply now or wait a few months. Details are on our pricing page.
