For applicants in Patiala & nearby
Punjab is one of India's biggest sources of students heading to Australia, and across the Malwa belt around Patiala the subclass 500 is one of the most-requested files on our desk. Since the Genuine Student (GS) rules replaced the old GTE test on 23 March 2024, a thin statement or a shaky funds trail is a quick route to refusal — which is exactly where a filing specialist earns their place. Pro Lifeset Overseas is a Punjab-licensed consultancy (Govt of Punjab licence No. 849/DC/PTA/PLA/LC-3/2024) working from a ground-floor, walk-in office on Nabha Road, near the PRTC Workshop. Bring your offer letter, transcripts and bank papers, sit across the desk in Punjabi, Hindi or English, and get an honest read before you spend a rupee on Home Affairs fees. One thing we say up front: the subclass 500 is a study visa, not a work permit — we prepare it as a genuine student case, never as a back-door to employment.
What we do for you
Handled end to end, by one consultant.
Honest Genuine Student (GS) assessment & drafting
We read your profile against the targeted Genuine Student questions Home Affairs now asks in your application — your ties to Punjab, why this course and this provider, the career logic and any study or work gaps — and tell you plainly if the case is weak. Then we draft evidence-backed answers, because generic, unsupported statements carry little weight and are a common cause of refusal.
Course, provider & CoE guidance
We help you confirm the course is CRICOS-registered and lines up with your background, then make sure the electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) is issued before we lodge — a subclass 500 cannot be filed on an offer letter alone.
Financial capacity file
We structure the funds evidence: at least AUD 29,710 for 12 months of living costs (the figure set on 10 May 2024), plus your first-year tuition and travel/airfare, with more added for a partner (AUD 10,394) or a dependent child (AUD 4,449). Above all we build a clean, genuine source-of-funds trail from savings, an education-loan sanction or a sponsor.
OSHC, health exam & character
We arrange Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for your full visa period, book your health examination with a panel clinic, and prepare police clearance and character documents so nothing stalls the grant.
Application lodgement & Chandigarh biometrics
We complete the online application, upload a decision-ready document set, guide your biometrics and health checks (the nearest centre to Patiala is Chandigarh), and respond promptly to any request for more information so your file doesn't sit in limbo.
Why Patiala applicants choose us
Licensed and genuinely local
A Punjab government-licensed firm (No. 849/DC/PTA/PLA/LC-3/2024) with a ground-floor walk-in office on Nabha Road, Patiala. We handle your case in Punjabi, Hindi or English — no call centre, no runaround.
Filing specialists, not a coaching shop
We do not sell IELTS or PTE classes. We are document and filing people: one consultant owns your subclass 500 file from GS assessment through to the decision, so nothing falls between departments.
Honesty before your money
If your Genuine Student story or your funds won't stand up, we say so before you pay any Home Affairs fee. Start with a free consultation, or a paid Visa Risk & Approval Report for a deeper, written read of your chances.
Reach across the Malwa belt
Students come to us from Rajpura, Nabha, Samana, Sanaur, Patran, Sunam, Bhawanigarh and Sangrur, plus Chandigarh and Mohali — and we walk every one of them through the Chandigarh biometrics step.

FAQs
- What is the Genuine Student (GS) requirement?
- From 23 March 2024, Home Affairs replaced the old Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) test with the Genuine Student (GS) requirement. Instead of one open-ended statement, you answer a set of targeted questions in your application — about your ties, why this course and provider, how it fits your career, and your circumstances. The focus is a genuine intention to study, and every claim must be backed by documents; generic, unsupported answers carry little weight and are a common reason for refusal.
- Do you coach IELTS or PTE?
- No. We are a filing and document consultancy, not a coaching centre, so we won't run English classes for you. You sit IELTS, PTE Academic or another accepted test at an approved centre; we help you target the right score — for the visa that is usually IELTS 6.0 overall, or 5.5 with a packaged ELICOS course, with PTE Academic 50 as an accepted equivalent — and build the rest of the file around it. Note that individual universities may set their own, higher entry bands.
- How much money do I need to show?
- Since 10 May 2024 you must evidence access to at least AUD 29,710 for 12 months of living costs, on top of your first-year tuition fees and travel/airfare — plus AUD 10,394 for a partner and AUD 4,449 per child if they come with you. What matters most is that the funds are genuine and well-sourced, whether from family savings, an education-loan sanction or a sponsor. We build the source-of-funds trail so it holds up.
- What is OSHC and is it compulsory?
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is the private health insurance every subclass 500 holder must hold. It has to be active for your entire visa period, start from your arrival in Australia, and cover doctor visits, hospital care and emergency ambulance. Letting it lapse breaches your visa conditions and can lead to cancellation, so we arrange it before we lodge.
- Can a student who was refused before reapply?
- Yes, but only after the real reason is fixed — reapplying with the same file usually fails again. We review the refusal (most often a weak Genuine Student case or unconvincing funds), rebuild the application honestly, and address each ground the decision-maker raised. We can't promise approval — that is the Department's decision — but a properly corrected file stands on far better footing.
- How long does a subclass 500 take to process?
- Processing time depends on your course, the provider's risk level and how complete your application is; Home Affairs publishes indicative times that shift through the year, so we won't quote a fixed number. Incomplete files trigger requests for more information and long delays, so we lodge a decision-ready application and complete biometrics and the health exam promptly at Chandigarh to keep things moving.
