My company is paying for the trip. Do I still show my own bank statement?

Yes. Iceland's checklist says the original personal bank statement should be provided by all applicants regardless of sponsorship, with every page stamped and signed by the bank.

How much money must the statement show?

8,000 ISK per day for the entire trip if you are staying in a hotel, or 4,000 ISK per day if the expenses of the stay are borne by a third party such as the inviting company.

Iceland Business Visa — overview

An Icelandic business visa is a short-stay Schengen visa (Type C): up to 90 days in any 180-day period, decided by the Embassy of Iceland in New Delhi. The application begins online on Iceland's visa portal, and the confirmation is shown to VFS staff when you submit.

Iceland uses one checklist for tourism, business and family visits, so a business traveller meets the same money rule as everyone else: your bank statement must show 8,000 ISK for every day in a hotel. On top of that come two letters — a signed invitation from the Icelandic party and a cover letter from your employer.

A business trip, measured in krónur

Iceland does not publish a separate business checklist. Tourism, business and family visits share one list — which means a rule that is easy to overlook applies in full: your statement must show that, for the entire trip, you have

8,000 ISK a day if you are staying in a hotel, or
4,000 ISK a day if the costs of the stay are borne by a third party.

For a five-night trade visit in a hotel that is 40,000 ISK — shown in an original personal statement, every page stamped and signed by the bank. And it is required from all applicants regardless of sponsorship: a company-funded trip does not remove it. If the Icelandic partner is paying for your accommodation, say so in the invitation; that is what brings you under the lower figure.

Two letters, one set of facts

For business Iceland asks for:

a signed invitation containing the contact details of the inviting party, and
a cover letter from your employer.

Both must confirm, as a minimum, your identity, the purpose of the journey — meetings, conferences, training or business-related events — and the period and place of intended stay. Write them to match: same dates, same town, same description of why you are going.

Start online, finish at VFS

The application is made at visa.government.is. Bring the confirmation of submission — VFS staff must see it — together with the printed and signed Schengen form and one photograph (3.5 × 4.5 cm, white background, under six months old).

Details that are easy to get wrong

The flight reservation must show the PNR number and your name.
An insurance card is not sufficient — bring the policy schedule, with dates and coverage area.
The self-employed provide an income-tax return that is barcode verifiable, with GST registration and the business bank statement.
ITR acknowledgements for the last two assessment years.

Passport
Valid at least 3 months from the date you leave the Schengen area, issued within the previous 10 years, at least 2 blank pages. If available, copies of Schengen entry and exit stamps from previous passports.
Schengen visa application, printed and signed
With one passport-style photograph, at most 6 months old, white background, 3.5 × 4.5 cm.

The online form at visa.government.is. Confirmation of submission must be presented to VFS staff.
Signed invitation from the Icelandic party
Containing the inviting party's contact details, and confirming as a minimum your identity, the purpose of the journey (meetings, conferences, training or business-related events), and the period and place of stay.
Cover letter from your employer
Confirming the same three points.
Travel medical insurance — the policy, not the card
Valid for all Schengen countries, at least EUR 30,000, stating the period of validity, coverage area and the whole trip. An insurance card is NOT sufficient.
Proof of transportation
Round-trip flight reservation showing the PNR number and the traveller's name.
Proof of accommodation
Hotel or rental reservations for each Schengen state visited.
Cover letter from you
Purpose of travel, duration, names of anyone accompanying you, and transport and accommodation details.
Personal bank statement — from every applicant
Original, last three months, every page stamped and signed by the bank; required regardless of sponsorship. It must show 8,000 ISK a day for a hotel stay, or 4,000 ISK a day if a third party bears the costs.
Income-tax returns
ITR acknowledgements for the last two assessment years.
Proof of occupation
Employed: three months' payslips, employment contract and leave letter. Self-employed: company registration with GST number, business bank statement and a barcode-verifiable income-tax return.
