Netherlands Business Visa — overview
The Netherlands Business Visa is a short-stay Schengen visa (Type C) for business activity — meetings, conferences, training and business-related events — for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
Alongside the standard Schengen documents, the embassy expects an invitation from the inviting Netherlands company or organisation and a cover letter from your Indian employer, both confirming your identity, the purpose, and the period and place of the stay.

Netherlands Schengen business visa from India
Business trips to the Netherlands for meetings, negotiations, trade fairs and official visits use the short-stay Schengen visa: "a maximum period of three months (90 days) within any period of 180 days" across the Schengen states. The Dutch overview our Knowledge Base holds lists "Business and official visit" as one of its short-stay categories and adds the Orange Carpet Programme, a facilitation scheme for frequent business travellers of established companies.
Which country you must apply to
"You will have to obtain the Schengen visa from the country where the main purpose of travel lies." When several Schengen countries are involved, "submit your application with the country where you will be staying the longest. In case of equally long stays, you have to apply with the Schengen country where you arrive first." If the trip also covers a non-Schengen country such as the United Kingdom or the United States, "apply for the other visa first, before applying for the Schengen visa."
What a Dutch business file contains
An invitation from the Dutch company stating purpose, dates and who bears the costs; a letter from your Indian employer confirming your role and the reason for the trip; proof of your company's registration where you are the owner; travel medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000 valid across Schengen; flight and accommodation bookings matching the invitation; and three months of bank statements with income-tax returns. Applications from India are lodged at VFS Global for the Netherlands.
