Lithuania Business Visa — overview

A Lithuanian business visa is a short-stay Schengen visa (Type C): up to 90 days in any 180-day period, decided by the Embassy of Lithuania on a checklist revised in May 2026.

The Lithuanian company invites you through the state's electronic migration system, MIGRIS, not by letter — and you put the invitation's number on your application. Your own form is completed online in EMigris. The embassy will not treat an affidavit as evidence, and it sets a firm window for applying: between six months and 15 working days before you travel.

Ask your Lithuanian partner for a MIGRIS number

The first thing to request from the company in Vilnius or Kaunas is not a letter on letterhead. It is a MIGRIS invitation — submitted by them, electronically, through Lithuania's migration service — and the number that comes with it. The business section of the checklist names it directly: "MIGRIS invitation letter from the inviting company or organization."

A business partner who has not hosted a visa-national visitor before may not know the system exists. Tell them early. The submission is made on their side, in Lithuania, and your application cannot be finished until you hold the number.

If the Lithuanian company is also arranging your hotel or covering costs, that goes into the MIGRIS invitation too — that is what the embassy reads as the inviter's commitment.

Build the calendar backwards

Lithuania gives hard edges:

earliest: six months before travel;
latest: 15 working days before travel;
processing: within 15 calendar days of reaching the visa section;
VFS transit: up to two working days on top;
embassy public holidays do not count as working days.

For a trade fair with a fixed date, we suggest counting back at least five weeks from departure before you book the VFS slot, and remember you will not have your passport during that time — no other trips in the window. A booked flight does not speed anything up.

What the embassy will not accept

Affidavits. "Affidavit will not be considered as a document of evidence."
Incomplete files. The visa section is not obliged to ask for a listed document before refusing.

Your side

Complete the form in EMigris, print and sign it. Two high-definition photographs with the face filling at least 80% of the frame. Insurance from the approved Indian insurers list. A signed cover letter, and proof of who you are professionally: payslips, contract and the employer's approval of leave — or, for an owner, the certificate of registration with the GST number.

MIGRIS invitation from the inviting company
The inviting company or organisation submits the invitation electronically through MIGRIS; you quote its number. It is needed where you rely on the inviter for accommodation or costs, and it confirms the purpose of the visit.
Travel medical insurance — approved insurers
From the approved list of Indian travel insurance companies; all Schengen countries; at least EUR 30,000; the whole trip. Multi-entry applicants need cover for the first trip.
Transport and itinerary
Flight reservations to and from the Schengen area, plus intra-Schengen travel where relevant.
Proof of accommodation
Hotel reservations for each state visited — or accommodation stated in the MIGRIS invitation.
Cover letter
Signed by you: purpose, duration, anyone accompanying you, transport and accommodation details.
Proof of occupation and means
Employed: payslips, contract and the employer's statement approving the leave. Company owner or self-employed: certificate of registration of the company with its GST number. Bank statements and income-tax acknowledgements.
