Lithuania Tourist Visa — overview
A Lithuanian tourist visa is a short-stay Schengen visa (Type C): up to 90 days in any 180-day period, decided by the Embassy of Lithuania on a checklist revised in May 2026.
The application is completed online in EMigris. Tourists relying on their own means show hotel bookings and an itinerary; anyone relying on a host in Lithuania quotes the number of a MIGRIS invitation instead. Affidavits are not evidence, the application window is fixed, and the embassy keeps your passport during processing.
Own means, or a host — the file changes with the answer
Lithuania's checklist draws the line at Article 14 of the Visa Code. If your accommodation and money are your own, you show hotel bookings, tickets and travel plans. If you rely instead on the commitment of an inviter or sponsor in Lithuania, that person submits a MIGRIS invitation electronically and you quote its number — and any private accommodation has to be stated inside it.
Decide which you are before you start. A tourist who is staying a few nights with a cousin in Vilnius is relying on a host for those nights, and the checklist expects the MIGRIS route for that part.
What a tourist shows
A certificate of the travel agency confirming the booking of an organised trip, or any other appropriate document indicating the travel plans. For an independent trip that means an itinerary — where you sleep each night, how you move between cities, what you plan to do — matching the hotel reservations and the flights.
The form is online
Complete it in EMigris: choose your nationality, select the Schengen visa form, create a login, then print and sign. Two high-definition photographs, face filling at least 80% of the frame. Insurance from the approved list of Indian insurers.
The rules the embassy states in plain words
- Apply not earlier than six months and not later than 15 working days before travel.
- Processing: 15 calendar days from arrival at the visa section, plus up to two working days from VFS; embassy holidays do not count.
- A booked flight ticket does not result in preferred processing.
- Affidavit will not be considered as a document of evidence.
- You will not have your passport during the process.
- An incomplete file may be refused — the visa section is not obliged to ask for listed documents first.
- Fees are not refundable on refusal.

Application form — completed in EMigris
Completed by logging in to EMigris, then printed and signed.
Two photographs
Recent, high-definition, 35 × 45 mm, colour, white background, face covering at least 80% of the frame.
Passport
Issued within the last 10 years, valid more than three months after the scheduled return, at least two empty pages.
Travel medical insurance — approved insurers
From the approved list of Indian travel insurance companies; all Schengen countries; at least EUR 30,000; the whole trip. Multi-entry applicants need cover for the first trip.
Transport and itinerary
Flight reservations to and from the Schengen area, plus intra-Schengen travel where relevant.
Proof of accommodation
Hotel reservations, rental or campus residence — or, if you rely on a host, a MIGRIS invitation number.
Tourism documents
A travel agency's certificate confirming the booking of an organised trip, or any other appropriate document indicating the travel plans.
Cover letter
Signed by you: purpose, duration, anyone accompanying you, transport and accommodation details.
Proof of financial means and occupation
Bank statements, income-tax acknowledgements and evidence of occupation — payslips, contract and leave approval if employed; company registration with GST number if self-employed.
