Slovenia Tourist Visa — overview
A Slovenian tourist visa is a short-stay Schengen visa (Type C): up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Slovenia's single checklist covers every travel purpose; the tourism section asks only for proof of your travel plans and, where the passport does not show it, your marital status.
The rules that matter are the general ones: documents translated into English or Slovenian and filed in the embassy's order, originals presented at the appointment, and nothing returned to you afterwards except your passport.

A short tourism section, and three rules that are not
For tourism, Slovenia asks for two things beyond the common list: a travel agency's certificate for an organised trip, or another document showing your travel plans, and — if you are married and the passport does not say so — a marriage certificate with a ration-card copy where applicable.
The general rules are where a holiday file goes wrong.
1. Only the passport comes back. "The Embassy does not return any other documents to the applicant besides the passport." Show originals at the appointment; submit copies.
2. English or Slovenian, in order. Property papers, pension orders and certificates in Punjabi or Hindi need translation, and the file is assembled in the sequence the checklist prints.
3. Do not buy tickets. "It is not recommended to purchase flight tickets before receiving a visa decision." Submit a reservation and a document from the hotel.
An itinerary that agrees with itself
"Any other appropriate document indicating the travel plans" is best answered with a simple day-by-day plan — Ljubljana, Bled, Piran, with the hotel for each night — that matches the reservation dates and the flights. It is the document that lets an officer see the trip is real.
Insurance and multiple entries
At least EUR 30,000 across the Schengen area for the whole trip. For a multiple-entry visa, cover for the first trip is enough if you sign the declaration on the last page of the form.
Timing
Up to 15 calendar days from a complete file, and up to 45 with additional checks. The embassy may call you for an interview or ask for more documents.

Application form
One form, completed, dated and signed.
Passport and copies
A copy of the passport, including the biodata pages and any foreign passports issued.
Travel medical insurance
Whole Schengen area, entire trip, minimum EUR 30,000 for emergency medical expenses. Multiple-entry applicants: cover for the first trip plus the signed declaration on the form.
Transport
Flight reservation, plus intra-Schengen travel if you visit several states. The embassy does not recommend buying tickets before the decision.
Proof of lodging
A document from the hotel or establishment providing accommodation.
Travel plans
A travel agency's certificate confirming the booking of an organised trip, or any other appropriate document indicating the travel plans.
Marriage certificate, where needed
If you are married and your passport does not show it; a ration-card copy where applicable.
Proof of financial means
Original personal bank statement for the last three months, stamped and signed by the bank, with evidence of occupation — for an employee, the employer's statement approving leave; for an owner, the company's registration certificate.
Translations, in order
Supporting documents translated into English or Slovenian and presented in the checklist's order. Originals shown at the appointment; only the passport is returned.
